July 9: Audrey Smith is a writer and teacher based in Greensboro, North Carolina.  She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she received a BA in English and Creative Writing, and of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she completed her Master’s degree in Education.  Audrey's creative nonfiction has appeared in DASH Literary Journal, Hippocampus Magazine, and Nat. Brut.

July 10: ​Holly Schindler is an award-winning and critically acclaimed writer of books for young readers. She has received starred reviews in Booklist and Publishers Weekly, won silver and gold medals in ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year and the IPPY Awards, respectively, been featured on Booklist’s Best First Novels for Youth and School Library Journal’s What’s Hot in YA, and chosen as a PW Pick of the Week. She also made the Master Lists for several children’s book awards, including the Missouri Mark TwainAward.

July 10: Emilia Phillips: (she/her/hers) is the author of three poetry collections from the University of Akron Press, most recently Empty Clip (2018), and three chapbooks, including Hemlock (Diode Editions, 2019) and Beneath the Ice Fish Like Souls Alike (Bull City Press, 2015). Her poems and lyric essays appear widely in literary publications including Agni, American Poetry Review, Boston Review, The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, Poetry, and elsewhere. She’s an Assistant Professor in the MFA Writing Program and the Department of English at the UNC Greensboro.

July 11: Katie Kehoe lives in Greensboro, NC. She's published in Bayou Magazine, The Appalachian Journal, and elsewhere. She was a finalist in NC State's Poetry Contest (2019) and winner of the Truman Capote Poetry Prize (2012). She holds an MFA in poetry from UNCG, and currently studies library science at UNC Chapel Hill with the aim of making books and writing accessible to all. When she's not reading or writing, she can be found baking bread or mucking around in the woods. ​

July 11: Aviva Brown lives in North Carolina with her husband, two cats, and four wild animals who sometimes pretend they’re well-mannered children.  She converted to Judaism in 2017, and when she’s not writing about Jewish kids of color, you can find her hiding from housework (well, you can try), eating popcorn, or singing show tunes.

July 12: Stacy McAnulty is a children’s book author, who used to be a mechanical engineer, and dreams of someday being a dog therapist, a correspondent for The Daily Show, an astronaut, and a Green Bay Packer coach. She has written dozens of books including her debut middle-grade novel, The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl , an Indie Bestseller, and the 2017 Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Honor book Excellent Ed, illustrated by Julia Sarcone-Roach. Her other picture books include Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years, illustrated by David Litchfield; Moon! Earth’s Best Friend and Sun! One in a Billion, both illustrated by Stevie Lewis; Max Explains Everything: Grocery Store Expert and Soccer Expert, both illustrated by Deborah Hocking; Love, Brave, and Beautiful, all three illustrated by Joanne Lew-Vriethoff; Mr. Fuzzbuster Knows He’s the Favorite, illustrated by Edward Hemingway; and 101 Reasons Why I’m Not Taking a Bath, illustrated by Joy Ang. She’s also authored the chapter book series The Dino Files and Goldie Blox. When not writing, Stacy likes to listen to NPR, bake triple-chocolate cupcakes, and eat triple-chocolate cupcakes. Originally from upstate NY, she now lives in Kernersville, NC with her 3 kids, 3 dogs, and 1 husband.

July 12: Dr. Andrew Brod is the president of Brod Forensic Economics, a consulting firm he founded in 1997.  He works as an economics expert witness in personal-injury and commercial litigation throughout the eastern United States. In other consulting work, Dr. Brod conducts research in regional economics, including economic-impact analyses, industry studies, and regional profiles.

In addition, Dr. Brod writes a monthly column on economic policy in the Triad Business Journal and has written for Home Furnishings Retailer and the Greensboro News & Record.  Dr. Brod has served on a series of committees for the City of Greensboro, most notably the Living Wage Study Committee, which he chaired.  He is a frequent speaker in the community and was named Outstanding Conference Speaker for 2009 and 2010 by the North Carolina Association of CPAs.

July 15: Deonna Kelli Sayed is an internationally published author, TEDx speaker, and podcast producer. She is the author of Paranormal Obsession: America’s Fascination with Ghosts & Hauntings, Spooks & Spirits. Her essays and short stories have appeared in various anthologies, including Everywhere Stories: Short Fiction From a Small Planet. Deonna has received state and national multimedia awards for her podcast production. Her work has appeared in Yes!Weekly and in lifestyle magazines in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She is the Membership Coordinator for the North Carolina
Writers’ Network, and the Festival Coordinator for Greensboro Bound: A Literary
Festival.

July 16: Rose Himber Howse is a current MFA candidate in fiction at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she is the fiction editor of The Greensboro Review. Her work as appeared on Dead Darlings and Writers' Headquarters, and received an honorable mention in The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2018. She is currently at work on a collection of stories inspired by folktales of the Southern Appalachian region of the United States. Before pursuing her MFA, she taught high school English and adult literacy.

July 18: A native of Santa Barbara, CA, ​Jon Obermeyer​ is a graduate of Westmont College. He holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he served as Associate Poetry Editor of ​The Greensboro Review​. Jon is the author of eighteen books of creative work (poems, story, essay, memoir), four writing guides and two business titles. He is a two-time finalist for the Applewhite Prize, sponsored by ​North Carolina Literary Review​. His poem “Wasp Nest” was selected as best poem for 2019 by ​Northern Virginia Review​. His poems have appeared in ​Cobalt, Northern Virginia Review, North Carolina Literary Review​, ​Red Clay Review​, ​Tar River Poetry​ ​The Greensboro Review, Blue Pitcher, International Poetry Review, Spectrum, Santa Barbara Magazine, Stroke Connections ​and ​Coraddi​, with two poems included in the Greensboro poetry anthology, ​Edge of our World​. He lives in Bethesda, NC, near Durham.
