This is book of acrostic poems. This book of poems is about my mom, Katie Mae Harris. Acrostic poems are poems that are used to describe something or someone. In this book of poems I am writing about my mom. I hope you love it,not like it.
Origami is Japanese art of paper folding. “Ori” means “folding” in Japanese and “kami” means “paper” in Japanese. Origami is most notably very famous in Japan, but it is unknown if it started in Japan or not. Most evidence points towards China that it started in the first to second century then spread to Japan in the sixth century by Buddhist monks.
A violin is a very interesting instrument. Many people in America play it. Some of the kids have private lessons. There are even whole orchestras! A violin is a string instrument with four strings. It is one of the four main string instruments which include cello, bass, viola, and violin. The violin is the smallest then the viola, then the cello and the biggest is the bass.
The Beginning. Roanoke Island is off the coast of present-day North Carolina, over 3,500 miles away from England. The colonists had to sign a contract that made them stay with the colony for four years. Roanoke Island was discovered by Sir Walter Raleigh and funded by Queen Elizabeth I. The colonist didn’t want to be under the queen’s command so they went on a ship to Roanoke Island.
Samurai are the military nobility, fierce and deadly warriors of Japan that originated from the 12th century when they started becoming the retainers of daimyos. Due to civil wars between clans, they became increasingly more and more popular to use in battles. They also practiced the wearing of two swords, a symbol of their power.
Swimming has been around for over 7,000 years. That was when some of the earliest references of swimming were created. Over the years it became a competitive sport and was first competed in the Olympics in Athens, Greece. Then in 1908 the Fédération Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) started and was for amateur swimmers. Competitive swimming started in 1800 in Europe. Back then it was mainly Breaststroke and later on introduced more strokes.
